These Alloy 420 Hex Bars has higher carbon content than Alloy 410 Hex Bars which is in fact designed to optimize strength and hardness characteristics. Our Grade 420 Hex Bars provides full corrosion resistance only in a hardened condition, where it has good ductility in the annealed condition but is capable of being hardened up to 50 RHC. Tempering temperatures above 700 Degree F are not normally recommended and these Grade 420 Hex Bars must be preheated before and annealed after welding. Maximum corrosion resistance of our Type 420 Hex Bars is attained in the fully hardened or fully hardened and stress relieved condition.
