Even the corrosion free nature makes it one of the best to purchase. These are factors making Skytech as the leading manufacturer, supplier and exporter globally as well as in the local cities.
Grade 347 round bars are stabilized with niobium, which ties up carbon and keeps chromium free to protect against intergranular corrosion after welding. SS 347H uses the same base chemistry, but its 0.04% to 0.10% carbon content promotes coarser grains for sustained high-temperature service. Both grades resist oxidation up to 870°C and handle polythionic acid in sour environments. Niobium also separates them from 321 stainless steel, since niobium carbides remain stable where titanium carbides can degrade. Refineries, fertilizer plants, and power facilities use ASTM A276 Type 347 bars for repeated thermal cycling, with full batch traceability supplied by the manufacturer.
Round bars remain the primary product in the 347/347H lineup, but the alloy is also available as bright, hex, square, flat, and forged bars to suit varied applications. Standard bar material is produced to ASTM A276, pressure-vessel bars to ASTM A479, and forged flanges and fittings to ASTM A182. Available sizes run from 6 mm to 350 mm, with bright, black, and polished finishes plus custom-cut lengths. Niobium improves oxidation resistance under continuous heat exposure while reliable creep strength maintains long boiler-tube service. The controlled carbide precipitation in thick sections allows these grades to be generally welded without post-weld heat treatment. These grades are well suited for superheater and reheater tubing applications with demanding thermal cycles.
Sourcing 347/347H bars from a mill that controls the entire process, from raw material to final cut, removes the guesswork from procurement. Here's what sets the right supplier apart.

SS 347 has less than 0.08% carbon while SS 347H has a minimum carbon content of 0.04% and a maximum of 0.10% which improves its high temperature strength for continuous service above 540°C.
Yes. Niobium stabilization prevents carbide precipitation at weld zones, so both grades weld cleanly without post-weld heat treatment in most fabrication scenarios.
Yes, using carbide tooling and slower feed rates. The coarser grain structure machines predictably, and bars take to forging, bending, and forming without cracking.
Yes. It provides resistance to oxidation to 1640°F and maintains creep strength at elevated temperatures over long periods. The grade is the standard for superheater tubing and reformer furnace parts.
