Filler metal or austenitic, low carbon filler metals with molybdenum content higher than that of Alloy 317 Hex Bars, or a nickel-base filler metal with sufficient chromium and molybdenum content to exceed the corrosion resistance.
Alloy 317L Hex Bars is the most corrosion resistant of the 300 Series alloys and possesses the highest tensile and creep strength properties at elevated temperatures. 317 Stainless SS Hex Bars will always offer better pitting/crevice corrosion resistance than 304L Stainless Steel, where this is due to the addition of 2-3% molybdenum.
